Davis Mountains

Yesterday we had a great easy drive from Junction to Ft. Davis.  We cut across a corner of the Hill Country, then it turns to a desert landscape.  We saw some more workamper gate guards at oil field gates on I-10 out this way.   We were just on the fringe of the famous Permian Basin, one of the earliest US oil areas.
The view traveling west, speed limit 80 MPH:

Even though we are not country music fans, for this road trip it seemed appropriate to be listening to old country songs on KOOK radio.

We find ourselves in Davis Mountain State Park, with beautiful weather once again.  Last night got down to 34º, and it is 65 and sunny now at lunch time.  We got some very nice photos on our walk this morning, but I'll save them for later because we need to run to town.  Here are a couple of teasers, one of what the campsites look like, and one of our site taken last night.  More photos to come!
